Recommendation from the Stewardship Task Force:

Secure long-term support of major campus assets by endowing funds for the maintenance of building projects.

Additional explanation:

Maintaining a high caliber, state-of-the-art physical campus requires constant funding to keep pace with the increasing demands of the environment, the accelerating rate of technological innovation as it relates to building materials, and the evolution of new energy sources. Endowing maintenance funds in tandem with each building project offers substantial relief for the general operating budget of Gustavus.

This recommendation was placed in the Tangible Resources Strategic Framework Substantive Category using the language:

Build the financial base and endowment for funding the refreshment and maintenance of building systems within the 40-year renewal cycle, affirming the practice that it is preferable to repurpose old buildings to new uses.

This recommendation was placed is Tier 1 and is being monitored by the Vice President for Institutional Advancementr.
